Aaron got to play tackle football this year for the first time (for this mom that means: bitten off fingernails, anxiety screaming)!! :) - it really WAS pretty fun - I just get worked up over the boys getting hurt. Aaron's arms were bruised ALL over - we ended up spending way too much money in just protective gear (arm guards, ankle braces). I have never seen a kid so excited - and have never seen him cry so hard as he did after his first "conditioning" practice. Bless his heart. He sure got in shape!
Aaron mostly played Center all year - which he loved - but he also played Corner, Defensive Line, and Linebacker. Apparently Corner was his favorite. He rocks at Center - really really. He was 4 pounds over the max weight rule so ended up having to be an x-man (which means he can't carry the ball). He's hoping to be in the right weight zone next year to try out for a receiver position. Aaron is 2nd over from the left in this pic - blocking that blue #50. Can you see why I bit my nails right off?!?
Here is Aaron in his most common Center position (the kid with the Nike arm guards). Man - he was a great player. I was able to observe one of his team practices - and Aaron was so fun to watch. He really got the other kids on his team pumped - he was loud and fun and ... well, just a true leader. It made me really proud.
UGH!! I. KNOW!! All this tackling and blocking really stressed me out. But - Aaron just says - "oh MAN, that was fun!"
Here's Aaron playing the Corner position:

Aaron is one heck of a good lookin' kiddo! Even drenched from head to toe in sweat after every practice and every game!
I was glad when it was all over - Aaron had a blast - and the games were pretty fun (they only won 1x all season though - so that was rough) - Aaron got in GREAT shape ... but, I was happy to not have to get him to those 2 hour practices almost every day. Football was very time consuming - threw our schedules for a major loop! Aaron had some great friends on the team - and made many new friends as well - and is looking forward to next year. Until then - I can breath a little easier. :)
