My Honor Students (April/May 2014)

It's no surprise that I am awfully proud of my kids.  They are all three incredible people - smart, funny, genuine, sincere, kind, witty - I'm a lucky parent.  And here is just a little more proof:

#1 - Marissa.  Now - I have no pictures; however, this girl received straight A's on her report card her ENTIRE Junior year.  That is quite an accomplishment, if you ask me. She is an amazing example to Aaron and Krystal, and often (and I mean A.LOT.) helps them with their homework.  Thank you, Dee.  You are a rock star!

#2 - Aaron.  One day we got a phone call from his teacher telling us that Aaron had been selected to receive one of the T.E.R.R.I.F.I.C. (Thoughtful, Enthusiastic, Respectful, Responsible, Inclusive, Friendly, Inquisitive and Capable) Kid Awards for his school.  Apparently only one boy and one girl are chosen from each 6th grade class to receive this award!  Aaron is the man.  :)

Here we are at the presentation ceremony:

We dared Aaron to wink at the camera (the presentations were being filmed for the Spanish Fork News)!  He came through for us, of course.  hahaha.

Unfortunately, his teacher turned his name in with the wrong spelling.  :(  But - the award still means the same thing!  Way-ta-Go, Mister AarBear!

Later, the TERRIFIC Kids were recognized in an assembly at their school:

And their names were put on a plaque that is kept up in the school.  Very cool!

I'm also so glad I was at that assembly, because I got to see the kids dance to their theme song for the year - "On Top of the World" by Imagine Dragons.  It seriously made me cry to watch Krystal dance her heart out.  I. LOVED. IT!!

And my Aaron was on the VERY last row at the back of the gym ... but, thanks to how much he has grown this past year - he is a head above all the other kids, and I could see him rockin' out no problem.  More tears!!  I'm so weird.  (Granted - he had just received the TERRIFIC Kid award - and I was feeling extra gushy).

#3 - Krystal.  I know I've said it a million times, but TRULY - this girl is a complete busy body.  She takes on every project possible and then some - and makes sure they turn out Awesome!  These awards she received fit her perfectly:  Future Teacher and Student of the Month.

One of the hardest things she (and I) have ever done is the 3rd Grade Honor Student Challenge.  In the months of April and May - she had to complete 10 HUGE projects to complete this challenge.  I don't remember all of them now - but, here are a few I DO remember:  Memorize 10 poems (Krystal totally rocked this and even picked several challenging poems - I am the most proud of her for this accomplishment);  WRITE 5 poems; Create a Newspaper; 5 Creative Book Reports (I'm proud of her for this one too as she is not a fan of reading!);  TWO science projects with reports (we got permission to do a video for one of them);  Run 2 miles (after school) every week for 6 weeks;  2 reports (she did a report on Koala Bears and a report on How Freckles are Made  :)  );  and 3 more things I can't remember.  Anyway - she was totally amazing and did great work.  A lot of the things she did we kept.  So, maybe I'll get pictures of them and post them here later.  In the mean time - here is one of her Science Project Videos:

You have to admit - you're pretty proud of my kids now too, right? haha. April and May are CAAAARAZY months! So many projects! Makes us really look forward to Summertime. :)
